"You mean these babies?"

gonna miss you kerry.

"What kinda meat is that? Its fish isn't it.. I don't wanna know.." "we need some fried stuff... oo look over there!" "what's in this.. ? its prawn isn't it.. it tastes like prawn... is it pork?" "this tea tastes like the bottom of an ash tray! its alright though"

"I've always wanted to sit on this side... walking on the street I've looked over and wanted to be one of those people sitting over here..." "how do you work this tea thing..?" "damnit why did you say chocolate when you meant dessert?"

huge fan. really trying to figure out why I keep coming back to see him... we reckon his english accent plays a huge part in him being funny.. I love his african bits though.. ahh that nigerian accent (maybe cuz it represents a culture/peoples I know close to zip about...?).. love his god/spectacles joke everytime.

everyone can't really believe I haven't seen jimeoin before, not even on tv! he IS really good though, reckon he's really got talent and just the way he delivers his material... his jokes, lines n stories just come together in a way that doesn't at all seem thought out.. and he actually did make me think for a moment that 'hey.. maybe the hokey-pokey IS what its all about..' ... oh and the DUCK before the show deserves special mention too.. its just SO good everytime.. k:'duck is like chicken only WAY better...'

that was actually the start of a REALLY long night.. ended up with ippei, cigars n reds at the supper club till 6 in the morning... (this was also coming from a pretty big night just the night before.. god I'd really missed hitting up a drum n bass gig)

Theatre Review.

I have always been so addicted to live theatre... its how it always takes my senses and emotions for a ride... the voices and emotions of those on stage penetrate and resonate in me... then there's always that bit of me indulging that fantasy of one day being involved... being on the stage.. projecting my characters' voice.. his emotions. The History Boys just kept making me think about the number of times I had to churn out essay after essay on the Dead Poet's Society (comes with doing year 11 twice)... it'd actually been the 1st time I'd stepped into the playhouse since being in melbourne these couple of months.. its always been a really intimate venue but it made me remember why I'd always actually prefer performances in the malthouse.. the arts centre just lacks that 'raw'/'real' feel..

The Barber of Seville - I know it hasn't reviewed too well (then again everyone disagrees on how to 'truly' deliver this production) but I just loved it! was really invigorated in the second act and I think most everyone in the theatre felt such an urge to do 'little happy dances' in their seats... the 'background extras' were great! I couldn't keep my eyes off Captain Crunch (the bitter old hunched over servant.. his mannerisms and the way he moved across the stage was just gold). The set's architecture really made me reminisce over Barcelona and so a silent inner prayer I had that ESADE accepts me. 'FIGARO! Figaro Figaro Fiiiiigaro!' :D

Enter the King! the conclusion left me a little confused but Geoffrey Rush is just amazing in this... its obvious that he (and the knight) thoroughly enjoys playing this character.. littering it with fantasic eccentricities.. the way he engaged the audience with his eyes.. how the entire performance came into the audience (big fan of those) thoroughly kept everyone captivated.

I've finally got my hands on the LP I'll need for my next little journey, knew that they were gonna be putting out a new edition this month so I'd actually been hanging out for the release for ages... I'VE ALREADY GOT CURRY STAINS ON IT! can't wait to be sitting somewhere in Hradec Kralove and be reminded of gorgeous indian curry as I flip to the city's map. reading bout the eclectic collections of bars, galleries and other spaces (outside prague in my town for the next half year, Hradec Kralove!)... Can't wait! seems like it'll be a great spot for rock climbing as well.. mmm.. tasty.

The sheer energy and spirit-lifting thoughts garnered from events like this always blow me away! intense discussions.. coherent passions... hope for the world! and tricia, I do not believe any of us, wanting to do our bit to bring what we believe is needed change in the world is 'forcing anyone to act / change against their will'. Comparing us with dictators who pushed their own agenda on an unsuspecting population was not fair. Still love you though! direct, critical words always shock me into reassessing.. well, everything.

Headline Gathering Exercise

Students slaughtered - CNN

ah the classic american headline, i can imagine the paperboy screaming this one out, the stereotypical newspaper editor being excited at this 'hot ticket in your face' headline.. gotta love yankee flair

One of the dead - an inspiration to a Virginia Tech student - Earth Times

I like the earth times, the fuzzy cuddly inspirational hope that they find in a tragedy...

Dozens killed in US campus rampage - Al Jazeera

look at those silly puppies killing each other. ;)

Holocaust survivor sacrifices self to save students - Jerusalem Post

lest not we forget the holocaust..

Indian professor killed in the US varsity shootout - Hindustan Times

another bright indian mind... such a shame... i wonder if this will deter bright young indians from heading westwards, na... i wonder if someone somewhere, over a chai (or a latte, as the case is becoming these days) in mumbai is going, 'We send them our best & brightest to tutor their kids, and this is what they do? shoot them in the head? uncivilised fools!'

Aussie tells of campus chaos - SBS News

our intricate network of foreign exchange students are ready to report on any crisis anywhere! :D we are everywhere!

318 killed in Songkran road accidents - Bangkok Post

i think.. pondering this headline, we are outraged not at the loss of life, but at the barbarity and premeditated intent of the act.. millions die every year from easily preventable causes... they die because they are ignored.. this south korean in virginia, he died (& killed) because he was ignored too... a selfish society which encourages inward thought..

Pressure on central bank to up interest rates - China Daily

I have always found it fascinating how each news source in the world has its own take of an event. and how some sources just don't care that the world lost 33 american college kids today.

Monocle.

rarely do I actually get around to blogging the next day (well, besides from my times with my last blog ) but this, oh this, got me a little excited. Its a new magazine I stumbled upon on a lazy rainy melbourne afternoon, and it covers.. the ABCs (& Ds) of life! So Affairs (the kind that usually does not involve courtney love) Business Culture AND Design !!

Based in Europe, edited out of London, (did I mention it includes a rather clever manga pullout in each issue?), its just, well, perfect. With that I join those in orange vests with my own version of, 'Get Your Monocle! Get Your Monocle Here! Support the Long Term Unemployed!' (by not adding to their ranks ;) )
